Frequently Asked Questions

 

Q.  Who is qualified to live at Winchester Meadows?

A.  Winchester Meadows is a retirement community for persons who are 55 years of age and older.  Residence must be in good physical and mental health for their age.  If a resident is a couple, one of the couple must be 55 years of age or older. If assistance is needed, it is the responsibility of the resident to provide these services.

 

Q.  Are the apartments furnished?

A.  No, apartments are unfurnished so tenants are able to bring their own personal furnishings to decorate their apartments as they choose.  In addition, the entryway to your apartment will have a shelf for your personal decorations. 

 

Q.  Am I responsible for household insurance?

A.  Winchester Meadows provides insurance for the building structure and common areas.  We recommend renter's insurance for your personal property.

 

Q.  If I move-in in the middle of the month, do I have to pay for the whole month?

A.  If you move-in with less than 30 days in the month, your rent will be pro-rated by the day for that month.

 

Q.  Will I be able to entertain overnight guests?

A.  Absolutely!  And if you need additional space, our guest apartment is available by reservation at a nominal fee.

 

Q.  Will I be able to keep my car?

A.  Certainly.  26 built-in garages with remote garage door openers are available for an additional charge.

 

Q.  Are pets allowed?

A.  Small pets are allowed subject to prior approval. There will be an additional pet deposit.

 

Q.  Are meals included in the rent?

A.  Yes.  The noon meal will be served daily along with a continental breakfast.  The noon meal will be served restaurant style with a choice of entrees.

 

Q.  What if I miss a meal?

A.  If you are away for the noon meal, our staff will save your meal in the main kitchen refrigerator for you to pick up later.  If you are going to be out of town for 3 days or longer, notify our Director and you will be credited for those days.

 

Q.  Are sick trays available?

A.  If you are contagious, we certainly would prefer that you did not expose other residents.  You can have a room tray for a maximum of 5 days.  A room tray will not be provided on a regular basis.  We encourage everyone to eat in the dining room.

 

Q.  Will I be able to have guests eat with me in the dining room?

A.  They certainly can.  All we ask is that you make a reservation in advance.

 

Q.  What emergency services will be provided?

A.  There will be an emergency call system that will be monitored 24 hours a day. Our staff does not provide medical assistance but will stay with you until qualified medical assistance arrives.

 

Q.  Will nursing services be provided?

A.  No. By law we cannot provided nursing services. We will have an office available for a local home health care agency if assistance becomes necessary.

 

Q.  Can I also use my current housekeeper in my apartment?

A.  Yes.  We provide light housekeeping.  If you would like to use your own housekeeper for more services you certainly may.
